. The policy manual states, “Referrals [to the truancy officer] shall also be made…when excessive absentee patterns emerge including such situations as excessive tardiness, absences including three (3) consecutive days, and leaving school early.” Since we will be contacting the truancy officer when a student has three or more unexcused check-ins or check-outs, we want to make sure that everyone is aware of this policy.

 

Also, we are reminding everyone that students will need a doctor’s or dentist’s note when checking in or checking out due to doctor visits. The student/parent handbook on page 11 states that “Every fifth (5^th) unexcused tardy to school or check out from school or class per semester will result in the student having to attend Saturday detention, in school suspension or after school detention for one (1) day,” so we need doctor notes to make sure that we document the check-ins and check-outs as excused.
