Students study the basic elements and principles of design and practice the application of these components in their own artwork. A variety of art materials is introduced, along with a history of major art styles and artists.
Suggested Grade Level: 10, 11, or 12
Prerequisites: Art 1 or Introductory Art
This course extends and refines the use of the basic elements and principles of design in individual artwork. More emphasis is placed on art history. Students will be expected to produce artworks based on particular styles or periods in the art world, as well as write reports on artists and art styles.
Suggested Grade Level: 11 or 12
Prerequisites: Art 1 and Art 2
In this course, there is further instruction in art history, art styles, and prominent artists. Students are encouraged to apply knowledge of art styles and materials to create original works of art.
